Description

Our Heritage Dorset Block, 17" x 12", is an update on a classic JK Adams boards from the past.  The board is built on 4 solid feet which allows air to circulate around the board. It is crafted of edge grain boards which mimics the construction of butcher block countertops. There is a slot underneath for knives and is accessible on the right or left.

Knives 4.5" to 8" in size will slide into the knife slot.  Knives can only be safely stored while the board is sitting stable. Do not move the board with knives in the slot.

Care + Use

Wood is an incredible natural material that expands and contracts with moisture and humidity. Regular regimented care of this product will protect it for years to come.

Handwash with warm, soapy water after each use and dry thoroughly with a towel. Never soak or submerge in water, run in a dishwasher, or use in a microwave. Placing hot pots or pans on your board can result in a lasting burn mark.

Apply JK Adams Mineral Oil and / or Beeswax Wood Conditioner once a week, with a lint free cloth, to all surfaces-including edges and ends-until the finish is established, and at any time the board feels dry.

If at any time the grain of your product becomes raised-causing a rough feeling-a light buffing in the affected area with 200 grit sandpaper will smooth the finish. Reapply JK Adams wood conditioner after this process.

Wood Type: Maple is a forgiving hardwood. Grain variation is to be expected. It is recommended to use our conditioners at any time the product feels dry.

Why Wood?

In contrast to plastic, composite, or even glass cutting boards, wood is a natural and renewable material that is innately anti-microbial. Wood is able to naturally dry, and further kill bacteria, while other materials can harbor and encourage bacterial growth.

"Disposable isn’t in our vocabulary."
